Indices Overview
Diskover continuously scans your storage volumes and creates indices, which act like snapshots of your files and their metadata at a specific moment in time. These snapshots give you an up-to-date view of your environment.
By refreshing indices regularly, Diskover ensures you’re always working with the most current insights, supporting every aspect of sustainable data management.
⚠️ IMPORTANT! System Administrators are responsible for configuring, managing, and maintaining indices. As a user, you don’t need to manage them — you simply pick the index (or set of indices) you want to search or use for Heatmap Reports.
How to Access the Indices
Go to ⚙️ Tools menu → Indices to open the indices page.
How to Use the Indices
This is where you can browse and select the index you want to use for your search or analysis.

Indexing Schedule
Your System Administrator sets the indexing schedule based on your organization’s workflow and data volume. Some environments — such as media production — may require near-continuous scans, while others may run less frequently.
Diskover scans all volumes in parallel, not one at a time, which provides faster indexing and more current data across your entire environment.
