Filters Overview
Filters let you quickly narrow results without writing complex queries. They can be used while browsing directories or combined with manual searches and other built-in tools for more precise results.
How to Use the Filters

Doc type: Choose whether your results should include everything, only files, or only directories. |

File size: Enter a minimum and/or maximum file size, then pick the unit (KB, MB, GB).

Last modified (mtime): Filter by modification date.

Last accessed (atime): Filter by the last time a file was accessed.

Last changed (ctime): Filter by when file metadata or permissions were last changed.

Hardlinks: Set a minimum and/or maximum number of hardlinks—useful for identifying files with multiple hardlink references. |

Owner: Choose is or is not, then type the owner name—reach out to your system administrator if you’re unsure how users are set up in your system. |

Group: Choose is or is not, then type a group name—group naming is defined by your system administrator. |
I |
Extensions (listed): If extensions appear in your current view, they will be listed here. Select is or is not, then check one or more extensions. |

Extension (manual entry): If the extension you want isn’t listed above, choose is or is not and type the extension letters only (no dots). |

File type: Choose is or is not, then select one or more file-type groups—note that this option needs to be configured by your system administrator. To see which extensions belong to a group:

Tags (listed): Choose is or is not, then check one or more tags. |
M |
Tag (manual entry): Choose is or is not, then type a tag name—this is helpful for tags that were applied outside of Diskover but are still indexed as metadata. |

Other field: Filter on metadata fields not listed in the filters—useful for advanced filtering on specialized attributes. Choose:

Exclude folders: Prevents filters from limiting the folder tree, keeping the directory structure fully visible while still filtering results. |

Clear filters: Removes all active filters in the window. |

Save filters: Saves your current filters. |
Do You Have Active Filters?
Saved filters remain active and will affect all future browsing and searches until you reopen the filters and clear them. You can see from the search page if you have active filters and how many → number badge by the filter icon.
