Current Dir: Toggle ON to limit your searches to the folder/path you’re currently viewing.

⚠️ IMPORTANT! This stays on until you manually turn it OFF — it will affect all your searches in the meantime.

Filters: A built-in tool that lets you refine your results—whether you’re drilling down or searching.

Volume: You can select a volume from the drop-down list.

⚙️ Other tools: This drop-down gives you access to:

• Settings: Personalize your interface preferences/settings.

• Diskover Admin: Visible only to admins; used for setup and configuration.

• Volume Discovery: Admin-only tools.

• Indices: View and select specific indices.

• Task Panel: Admin-only tools for scheduling jobs.

• Help: Some helpful info plus a direct link to Diskover’s online documentation.

• Reload Indices: Refreshes your indices on the search page.

• Logout: Log out of Diskover.

View controls:

• Home: Jump back to the root/top of the active volume.

• Up arrow: Move up one directory level.

• Back/forward arrows: Navigate between previously viewed pages—browser arrows work the same.

• Chart: Hide or show the search page charts.

• Refresh: Refresh both the file tree and charts.

• Toggle lines: Hide or show the left pane, allowing more space for the results pane.

Volumes: Shows all available volumes—click any to drill down the file tree.

• Your instance may have top paths where the volumes are grouped by geographic locations, data centers, and so on.

• Hover a volume name to show its last indexed date and time:

• Hover a fill bar to show the used, free, and total space of a volume:

Directories: These directories belong to the volume selected in M.

• You can drill down in several ways:

  • From the left pane.

  • From the results pane.

  • From the path bar, see P for more details.

  • Using the file tree analytics.

• Hovering a directory shows a quick snapshot of useful information:

✏️ The left pane only shows directories that contain data—empty directories appear only in the results pane.

Green bar: Displays helpful information.

• Items per page: Number of items found during a search or when drilling down, ex: Showing 1 to 100 of 259 items found

• Size of data: Listed on the current page ONLY so be careful if you have several pages of results, ex: Results size: 12 GB (this page)

• Path: Shows the path when drilling down, ex: parent_path:\/mnt\/lucidlink\/projects

• Search criteria: Shows the criteria used when launching a search, either you are typing a manual query or using a built-in search tool, ex: Search query: bigfoot AND tags:archive

✏️ You can close the green bar using the X, but it returns after your next action—because it’s genuinely helpful.

Path bar: Shows the path you’re currently drilling into. You can’t type in it, but you can click any part of the path to jump directly to that location.

Q

Search Page Charts: Shows useful statistics for the path you’re currently viewing.

R

Extension bar: Shows all file extensions found in your current results. Click any extension to filter by that type.

S

Last indexed: Shows when the selected volume was last indexed.

T

Sort and Column Layout Controls : Options for sorting results, and set or reset your preferred column sizes and order.

Items per page and number of pages of results:

• # per page: Choose how many items to display per page (10–1,000).

• < ▢ >: Number of pages of results—adjusts based on your chosen items-per-page.

Search within results: A powerful tool that works like a supercharged version of CTRL/CMD + F, letting you search the current page of results.

W

Tags: Manually tag one or more items.

X

Export: Export selected results to CSV, JSON, or copy paths.

Y

Share: Share the results URL or query with a coworker using Diskover.

Z

File Action: Authorized users can take different actions on files (depending on enabled plugins).

Results pane: Displays the results from drilling down or running a search.
